HOW TO GET HERE FROM LAX:

BY AIRBUS:

If you are flying into Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), the easiest way to get to Santa Barbara is by Santa Barbara Airbus.

They have a web page at http://www.santabarbaraairbus.com/lax/index.php.

The phone # at Santa Barbara Airbus is (805) 964-7759 or 1-(800) 423-1618.

BY PLANE:

There are several commuter planes that fly into Santa Barbara Airport. While these generally cost more than the Santa Barbara Airbus, they might be faster, and will avoid the freeway traffic.
You can get information on flights either from your travel agent, through the airlines direct web pages, or through the Santa Barbara Airport web page: http://www.flysba.com/ The Santa Barbara Airport web site has links to the airlines web sites as well.

BY RENTAL CAR:

Rental cars are available at LAX, and can be return in Santa Barbara. You can get information on rental cars at the Santa Barbara Airport site: http://www.flysba.com/?pageID=44.
Directions are as follows:

Traveling north on US Highway 101

From the LAX airport, take the 405 North freeway, to the 101 North highway.
Continue on 101 North until you get to Goleta (you will drive through Santa Barbara).
Take the Airport/UCSB exit off US 101 approximately 8 miles north of Santa Barbara. Take this expressway to the campus entrance gate.
Stop for a permit and parking instructions.

If you are traveling from San Francisco or other points north you will want to get on the southbound 101 highway until you get to Goleta:

Traveling south on US Highway 101

Take the Storke Road/Glen Annie Road exit of US 101 approximately 12 miles north of Santa Barbara. Turn right on Storke Road and proceed two miles to El Colegio Road. Turn left on El Colegio Road and proceed to the campus entrance gate.
Stop for a permit and parking instructions. Printing out the maps on the prior page will greatly help you.

While there is also Train service to Santa Barbara, and Bus companies that come to Santa Barbara, the terminals for these other transportations are not close to LAX, and are therefore not recommended for visitors new to Los Angeles.
